The Crofton City Council gathered for a special meeting on April 3 to discuss recent repairs and view the status of the Crofton water main on Harold Street. The Council noted that the current main was installed in 1920 and there were samples available of a previously patched pipe and pipe with holes in it, initiating the conversation about the possible replacement of the entire line. The Council met with Street Superintendent Steve Parr of JEO Consulting and Roger Protzman, JEO engineer, for the presentation. The water main travels along Harold Street from 8th Street to West 4th. It was announced that the project, as it stands at this point, was estimated at $1.4 million, and the Council agreed to contact the financing agent for the swimming pool project to see what options and payments are available for the project. There will be a public hearing in the future once all the “facts are in” so City residents can voice any opinions and comments about the project and funding selection.

At the March 19 Supervisors meeting, the Supervisors went into closed session for a few minutes past an hour, to “address Courthouse security issues” and exited that closed session before passing a Resolution to hire the special counsel from Omaha.
