
Steffen graduates USF
Lauren Steffen of Crofton, graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from University of Sioux Falls.
Steffen and more than 400 students were celebrated for graduation in the spring commencement ceremony. The ceremony can be viewed at youtube.com/usiouxfalls.

Veteran Stories since Veterans Day 2020
Over the past year and a half, since Veterans Day 2020, The Crofton Journal has run a feature called, "Veteran Stories" each week. Mostly, these features have highlighted the military service of soldiers who are from Crofton, or those who made Crofton their final home, or are buried in Crofton area cemeteries. Tom Allen was the Sons of the American Legion’s May calendar drawing winner. Allen received his gun from Doc Carlson owner of Upper Missouri Trading Post.

Volunteers help keep up cemeteries
The Beaverview Cemetery, located west of Crofton, is cared for by local people whose ancestors are buried on the grounds. The cemetery has markers from burials in the late 1880s to the present. Toastmaster Joyce Stevens called to order the meeting of ASHH 6217 on Thursday, May 20 in the meeting room of Rock Bottom Restaurant.

St. Rose releases fourth quarter academic achievement list
Administration at St. Rose school in Crofton recently released names of those students who had scored well enough to be listed on the 2021 fourth-quarter academic achievement list for excellence. Warriors bring home State Meet hardware

Golf Tournament well attended...
The Crofton Community Club hosted its annual golf tournament on May 16, with 25 teams registered, which was recalled as one of the largest since organizers have been involved the last 14 years. Winners included Luke Merkel‘s team; the second one is the Tom Swalley team; and the third one is Trenton Guenther‘s team in that order. Organizers said they appreciated all the donors that gave door prizes again this year, “It was lots of fun a delicious steak dinner put on by Doyle Stevens and Doug DeShazer.”

Journalists review breakfast "Bonanza"

CHS students and several teachers helped direct the Field Day in the South City Park for the elementary students. Among the team competitions were car wash relay, corn hole throw, hula hoop race, tug-o-war, shoe relay and sack relay.





Warriors earn accolades in a variety of subjects at Academic Contest

Nine qualify for State Invitational

Unofficial consensus: build new elementary
